Localism

Now that the Localism Act is enshrined in law, Future of London is undertaking research into what the localism agenda will mean for our capital city. What does devolving power down to the lowest level mean in London, where infrastructure demands are huge, where neighbourhoods and communities are transient and diverse, where extreme wealth and poverty live cheek by jowl, and where governance structures are complex and overlapping? And crucially, will doing so help boost economic growth, support local people with the services they need, and shape the kinds of places we want to live?

Throughout this project Future of London, supported by Portland Communications, will be providing practical recommendations for practitioners and policymakers across the Capital to help them get to grips with the various challenges that localism presents, and to answer the question of what this new agenda means for London.
