Paying for Public Projects in a Covid world

Registration is closed for this event

It’s no surprise, given Covid costs and politics, that central government has cut or postponed planned spend on affordable housing and major infrastructure projects like Crossrail 2 and the Bakerloo Line extension. As we turn to private investment, collaboration and council activity to pick up the slack, what new or heightened obstacles must we navigate? What risk will investors accept? When projects do secure capital, can councils staff them? What impact will planning reform have on asset value and decision-making?

We will find a way through over time, but to sustain momentum on the housing, infrastructure and innovation we need now, these issues need urgent attention and shared approaches - including a sustained focus on social impact.

Our 19 November online roundtable will tackle these questions and follows a 2019-20 event series, report and initial Covid update on Paying for Public Projects. Led by Future of London with partners Montagu Evans, Lewis Silkin and Poly Group, well-placed cross-sector guests shared insight on navigating shrinking budgets, the looming EU void, skills challenges and evolving funding sources.

This new event, backed once again by Montagu Evans, brings previous and new speakers together and encourages attendees to bring questions and comments as well.
