Working at home isn't feasible for everyone. Throughout lockdown, many artists and creatives have struggled to adapt their practices, putting their livelihoods under threat. Recovery has brought a new set of health and safety restrictions, so how can we support the new configuration of artist maker spaces? And with retail also under threat, is there an opportunity to bring artists and creatives back to town centres and diversify local economies?
The Communities of Practice forums are peer-led discussions in a friendly and informal environment for voicing common challenges and sharing new ideas on critical issues during the Covid crisis and beyond, linked to FoL's Learning From Crisis programme. Chaired by alumni, they tackle different topics each time with an invited guest speaker.
When: Thu 13 August, 4-5 pm
Where/Format: Zoom, details provided when registration is confirmed
Alumni will chair the discussion with a short presentation from maker space provider SPACE Studios CEO Anna Harding providing insight on the current challenges and future prospects for artists and the creative sector. This is an interactive session with ample time for questions and debate.
