Future of London’s Leaders programmes provide a unique opportunity for London’s most promising urban professionals to share best practice, gain confidence, develop innovative thinking and become networked across the Capital with colleagues from the public, private and third sectors. For member organisations, this is a valuable opportunity to build capacity amongst candidates and wider stakeholder teams. Collated course materials are available online to candidates, who are also asked to deliver a presentation to their team/s on what they’ve learned once they graduate.

Future of London offers two bespoke options, exclusive to public-sector and SME members, core sponsors and invited third-sector organisations: Future London Leaders and Leaders Plus.

Future London Leaders

Future London Leaders is the foundation of our professional development programming, and will enter its 20th round in 2018. FLL is designed for people 8-10 years into their public-sector careers, and is excellent for those about to manage a team, or who have started to lead, but need some support. The 6-month course includes progressive leadership skills modules; networking; field trips and an ethics seminar based on a topical theme; and a personally matched mentor from another organisation. Candidates graduate after  an intense ‘Proposal for London’ presentation to an invited audience.

Leaders Plus

Leaders Plus is our next-level programme, focused on advanced leadership training for FLL graduates and others managing increased risk and responsibility. The 9-month course is split into three semesters of senior seminars, workshops and mentoring from some of London’s top urban practitioners. As with FLL, in order to graduate, Leaders Plus candidates must make a ‘Proposal for London’ to a select group of champions and challengers. Each cohort offers four spaces for private- or third-sector candidates, to increase understanding and cross-subsidise public-sector candidates.

Alumni Network

Joining one of our Leaders programmes provides automatic access to the Alumni Network, which is now represented on Future of London’s board and steering group. The network, which will reach 350 talented professionals in 2018, provides a platform for continued learning, debate, socialising, career advancement and contact with key players at all levels across the urban sector.
