Since it launched in 2010, Future of London’s professional development offer has evolved continuously. The constant has been the high calibre of the candidates, and we’ve watched successive waves of Leaders graduates move up through the London urban sector, delivering the housing, town centre, regeneration, economic development and infrastructure projects that make the capital truly liveable. Morak Bayode
Head of Reinvestment – London, Optivo
Morak is responsible for the delivery of a £22m annual programme of reinvestment and compliance works. Previous roles have included commercial services asset manager at Viridian, asset manager at ASRA and as an architect who designed and project managed various developments across Nigeria. Morak has a track record of delivering programmes, effectively managing change and implementing systems, procedures and policies. Morak is also a graduate of architecture, APMP qualified and a Prince2 practitioner.

Placeshaping Manager, LB Camden
Katrina is an urban planning, regeneration and project management professional with 14+ years’ experience in a broad range of disciplines, including major infrastructure, economic development, strategic planning and development management. As placeshaping manager at LB Camden, she manages a team of planners, urban designers, architects and project managers to develop strategies for the borough’s growth areas as well as providing a consultancy service. Katrina has an interest in seeing strategy through to delivery that creates the highest quality of place and delivers genuine benefits to communities.

Ben Edmonds
IT Programme & Change Manager, LLDC
With more than two decades in the IT and digital world in both the public and private sectors, Ben has spent the last eight years with the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), developing strategies and service management frameworks and delivering many successful corporate and public facing projects. Projects range from individual business application projects to the full procurement and transition of LLDC’s IT services and infrastructure, managing a budget of more than 1 million. Ben leads on the Smart Cities programme for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and has helped release a wide range of Smart demonstrator projects 'into the wild'.

Edward Ehiorobo
Head of Asset Management, Gateway Housing Association
Edward is a chartered building surveyor (MRICS) with an MSc in construction management. He has worked for a number of London’s local authorities and housing associations including two members of the G15 for over 22 years. Edward is currently responsible for delivering the asset management service at Gateway including stock investment works, compliance and stock condition surveys. Edward has extensive experience in working closely with residents and staff to deliver excellent customer focused service and has managed multi-disciplinary teams to deliver regeneration projects from inception to completion with high levels of resident satisfaction.

Mike Fawcett
Head of Delivery, Peabody
Mike manages a team of talented and committed development managers, overseeing a programme of over 2000 homes ranging from small infill sites to large, multi-phased regeneration projects. These schemes include homes for rent, affordable and market sale, as well as supported housing and commercial and community premises. His involvement begins with early stage transition of projects from Peabody’s new business team and his portfolio includes design and specification review; financial appraisals; development committee and board reports; build contract negotiation and management through to completion and sales/occupation of homes.

David Glover
Development Management Manager - Planning & Regeneration, LB Brent
David has over 15 years of experience within London planning authorities. He has worked on a number of projects in areas such as Wembley, Alperton and Stonebridge, with permission granted for over 8000 homes and a large number of commercial developments. David leads the Development Management Planning Service at LB Brent where he is responsible for 36 development management and technical support staff. His service handles 5000 planning applications each year and has recently won the 2019 RTPI award for Local Authority Planning Team of the Year.

Rachael Hickman
Head of Housing Delivery & Compliance - Housing and Land, GLA
Rachael started her career working on domestic sustainable energy projects, but her focus shifted to delivering affordable housing. Recently she has overseen the delivery of major housing and regeneration programmes including managing the GLA’s investment in Barking Riverside, developing a business case and strategic vision for a complex infrastructure investment funding bid of £212m. She has also led on the Affordable Housing Programme for the North East Team including achieving annual housing targets of c.6,000 homes. In her current role she is part of the senior management team responsible for delivering land investment programmes and overseeing new approaches to housing delivery.

Sarah Hitchcock
Senior Regeneration Manager, LB Croydon
Sarah has over 20 years’ experience delivering projects in a local authority context, securing funding and working with public, private and voluntary sector partners. Sarah joined LB Croydon in 2016 and leads a team of regeneration managers and officers responsible for the regeneration of some of the most deprived areas of the borough. Sarah has worked in two London boroughs overseeing town centre programmes including the facilitation of business partnerships, organisation of major events with 20,000 footfall, supporting LB Islington’s response to TfL’s removal of the Archway Gyratory, working with developers such as Peabody on new housing development proposals and facilitating community engagement and consultation.

Alex Jeremy
Head of Partnerships, Poplar HARCA
Alex joined the Accents team at Poplar HARCA in September 2017. He is responsible for managing socio-economic and sustainability projects, as well as building local and strategic relationships which deliver sustainable growth and opportunity to Poplar and its community. Alex previously spent five years at LB Barking and Dagenham, firstly delivering the London 2012 programme, before going on to lead high street and estate renewal schemes, as well as coordinating the council’s role in Barking Riverside. He is an alumni of the National Graduate Development Programme for local government.

Yemi Morgan-Raiwe
Strategic Programme Manager, LB Enfield
Yemi is strategic programme manager for Meridian Water, Enfield’s £6bn, 25-year project. She is responsible for resource planning, restructure, recruitment and selection, and programme governance. Yemi also manages the programme office, responsible for reporting on financial compliance, contracts and risk. In addition, the borough has a comprehensive training and development programme which seeks to enable staff to deliver a 25-year project as master developer on behalf of LB Enfield.

Katie Randall
Managing Consultant, Inner Circle Consulting (Alumni Rep 2020-22)
Katie is passionate about making places work for people. As a managing consultant for Inner Circle Consulting, she works with local authorities within and outside of London, assisting them in turning strategy into delivery. Katie is currently focussing on Town Centres (and their post-Covid recovery) across the south of England. She has previously worked on multiple Town Hall Campus projects as the Programme Director for LB Hammersmith and Fulham and Programme Manager for LB Waltham Forest; transformational transport projects for the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough; and as the Head of Business, Employment and Skills at the London Borough of Barnet.

Sarah Scannell
Assistant Director Planning & Development, LB Hounslow
Sarah has over 13 years’ experience in planning, which includes having worked on strategic sites in RB Kensington and Chelsea and as a senior strategic planner at the GLA. Sarah currently has responsibility for planning at LB Hounslow which comprises development management, planning enforcement, planning policy and infrastructure, as well as the growth and opportunities team. Sarah is currently focusing on delivering Hounslow’s ambitious growth agenda through the planning system, creating capacity for strategic pre-application processes that meet the needs of developers and facilitates early development discussions to secure benefits for existing and future communities.

Jamie Smith
Senior Development Manager - Residential Lead, Argent
Jamie has over 15 years’ of private sector residential development experience, predominantly focussed on large scale regeneration projects in London. Jamie joined Argent in 2017 to deliver residential projects at Kings Cross. Since then he has also taken responsibility for market residential projects at Argent’s related Brent Cross South scheme as well as working on new business opportunities and partnerships. Prior to joining Argent, Jamie worked on the Earls Court Masterplan for five years as development lead for Capco. Jamie is also a chartered member of the RICS.

Peter Watkins
Associate, Pollard Thomas Edwards
Peter is responsible for the concept and planning stages of a portfolio of residential and mixed-use projects and has experience in the commercial, leisure and heritage sectors. With experience from brief development through to managing the delivery of large, mixed-use projects with multiple stakeholders, Peter combines a creative design sense with a practical approach to project management. His approachable and responsive manner enable him to work with clients to produce intelligent, sustainable and joyful solutions. Peter is also responsible for co-ordinating Pollard Thomas Edward’s CPD schedule, including a popular series of weekly talks from every member of the practice.

Development Manager, Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing
Before joining Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, Anthony had responsibility for leading housing, regeneration and social & economic activities for Notting Hill Genesis. He has 9 years’ experience working in housing and social policy, having previously worked as a paralegal. Anthony is passionate about placemaking and providing residents with a voice in the development process. Combining his skills in project management, service improvement and stakeholder relations, Anthony has led the transformation of services delivered locally to residents. He is also part of the management committee of a small, not for profit organisation, providing temporary accommodation to those young, single and homeless in London.

Senior Consultant, Campbell Tickell
Liz is a supported housing and care specialist with over 15 years’ experience at senior level. She is passionate about using innovative approaches to tackle homelessness and housing inequalities and has a strong commitment to bringing housing, care and health together so that people receive a seamless response to their often complex needs. This commitment underpins Liz's approach to her work as a senior consultant at Campbell Tickell, where she is responsible for delivering consultancy and research projects for housing associations, local authorities, health trusts and charities, principally on a range of supported housing health and care issues.

Leigh Bullimore
Associate, Pollard Thomas Edwards
Leigh has over 14 years’ post qualification experience of residential and mixed-use projects. Since joining PTE he has helped deliver a series of major estate regeneration projects and other large urban regeneration schemes. Leigh focuses on the planning and concept stages, ranging across smaller infill sites and large masterplanning commissions, contributing to the transformation of entire neighbourhoods. His analytical and strategic approach, combined with strong graphic and verbal presentation skills, help PTEs clients win competitions and planning permissions.

High Streets & Town Centres Team Manager, LB Tower Hamlets
Fiona Crehan is an Economic Development Programme Manager with 15+ years’ experience developing projects, securing funding and working with public, private and voluntary sector partners to achieve benefits for businesses, individuals and places. Fiona worked in several London boroughs and other local authorities, managing up to 5 staff, 12 external suppliers and budgets of up to £6million. Fiona joined LB Tower Hamlets as High Streets & Town Centres Team Manager in 2016 to set-up a new team and develop town centre focused regeneration projects e.g. Brick Lane and the City of London for Middlesex Street.

Matt Derry
Senior Regeneration Manager, LB Southwark
With 15 years’ experience in urban regeneration planning, policy and practice, Matt has worked in central, regional and local government, from establishing Thames Gateway policy at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minster (now MHCLG) to the delivery of projects in Stratford and Canning Town for LB Newham, notably the Rathbone Market development and associated CPO. In 2015, Matt joined LB Southwark and leads a small team responsible for regeneration in the south of the Borough. This includes projects such as adapting Peckham car park into a cultural hub and enabling the renewal of Walworth’s Aylesbury Estate.

In his current role Andy has responsibility for Planning Decisions, Building Control, Planning Enforcement & Commercial Nuisance and Street Naming and Numbering. His primary management focus is on general performance and the delivery of housing, affordable housing, economic growth and infrastructure. Andy also has experience co-ordinating service delivery across teams. He is currently leading on various commercialisation opportunities to move towards a cost neutral position. He also has experience of leading key regeneration projects and contributing to policy formation and Local Plan reviews.

Bethan has procured several high value schemes and is currently leading the masterplanning process for a 18Hectare site in East London and strategic development projects in the Royal Docks Enterprise Zone.

Head of Environmental and Social Sustainability – Euston and Silvertown, Lendlease
Miles is responsible for setting the sustainability strategies for Lendlease’s two largest urban regeneration projects in London; the over-station development at Euston and the development of Silvertown Quays in the Royal Docks. Previously, Miles was responsible for setting the sustainability strategy across Lendlease’s European residential business. And whilst managing Lendlease’s residential development portfolio, Miles undertook the role of Sustainability Manager on ‘KGX1’, the Google European HQ project at King’s Cross.

Chartered Landscape Architect, Arup (Australia)

Lidia is a chartered landscape architect with significant experience in the design and procurement of landscape projects. These projects include small-scale public realm improvements for parks, streetscapes and historic landscapes in the UK, as well as large-scale landscape planning projects in the UK and overseas. Combining her skills in landscape design and project management Lidia has been central to the successful delivery of the landscape design, assessment and strategy documents across the HS2 project. She recently received a Landscape Institute award for the HS2 Landscape Design Approach, a document that guides design consistency across the project.

Simon was invited to take the AD job in Rotherham upon graduating from Leaders Plus. He previously led LB Lewisham’s Highways & Transport Service. Over the past 14 years he has gained particular experience in the development of strategies, programmes and partnerships that attract investment and create changes in services and places. Since arriving at LB Lewisham in 2011 Simon has been involved in the ongoing transformation of the boroughs’ key town centre’s. His goal throughout has been to make better places for current and future residents. Simon is currently planning for the Bakerloo Line Extension and is also involved in developing plans to remodel Lewisham Station.

For 30 years Ian has worked to help people access the people, places, goods and services they need, whilst minimising the impacts arising from doing so. He leads LB Croydon’s Strategic Transport Service with the aim of ensuring that healthy and sustainable transport infrastructure is put in place to make a better Croydon. Previous roles include Strategic Transport Manager at LB Lewisham, Senior Research Fellow at University of Westminster Transport Studies Group, (Acting) Head of Strategic Transport at LB Lambeth. In a voluntary capacity he worked to establish Lewisham Community Transport, becoming a director of the charity.

Jonathan has worked at the GLA for four years delivering key Mayoral programmes, projects and services including No Second Night Out, London Street Rescue, and grant funded programmes. He led on the Mayor’s Rough Sleeping Plan of Action, detailing the Mayor’s five-year plan to ensure a route off the streets for everyone in London. Before this Jonathan worked at the City of London developing and implementing The City’s strategy to address rough sleeper’s needs including projects and initiatives such as personalised budgets where he developed the 2014 Homelessness Strategy.

Sripriya is an architect, urban designer and urban planning professional with over 17 years’ experience in the built environment ranging from public realm projects, regeneration, town centre development frameworks and master plans both in the private and public sector. She currently heads the Place Shaping Team at LB Tower Hamlets, responsible for the delivery of design and conservation service in the borough. Sripriya has an undergraduate degree in Architecture, a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Design. MSc. in City Design and Social Science from LSE and MA in Urban and Regional Planning from Westminster University.

Regional Head of Housing, Permanent Rented Housing, Notting Hill Genesis
Emily has worked at Notting Hill Genesis for 8 years, starting as a Housing Officer in 2010, becoming Housing Operations Manager in 2014 and Regional Head of Housing in 2018. She is extremely hard working and driven to complete tasks. Emily enjoys working with people on a one to one basis to find out their strengths and weaknesses and harness these to help a team work together. Emily provides an informal environment for her managers to discuss the challenges that they face and use a coaching approach to help them work through these.

Becky Utuka
Director of Development and Sales, Gateway Housing Association
Becky joined Gateway Housing in January 2017 as the Head of Development and was promoted to her current position in August 2018. She is responsible for the Development programme at Gateway which involves overseeing the acquisition of sites, the design of schemes to secure positive planning consent, contract negotiations and contract delivery. Becky’s role also includes overseeing the sales and marketing of the new build programme and other sales transactions such as lease extensions and stair-casing. She has previously worked in different roles within the Development Teams of a number of London based Housing Associations, including G15 members.

Luke is a strategy professional and economist with experience leading economic growth and infrastructure programmes. In his current role with the West London Alliance Luke is working with WLAs member boroughs to deliver a programme covering an area of two million residents and 100,000 businesses in a political environment. Specific areas Luke has responsibility for include: delivery of the West London Orbital railway scheme, inward investment and trade promotion through the Capital West London Programme, a joint planning programme, and coordinating the WLAs approach to local government finance devolution.

Blossom leads social, economic and cultural regeneration strategies in East London and further afield, with the award-winning Accents team at Poplar HARCA. Accents seeks to ensure that all the elements of placemaking are core considerations alongside Poplar’s £2.5bn regeneration programme. With a keen interest in re-imagining the role of local assets in area growth, her projects lever underused resources to generate new opportunities and to empower communities to thrive. Currently developing Poplar Works, a £5.5m fashion hub generating local enterprise and employment; a new economic strategy for Poplar Riverside; and making new use of physical assets through Open Poplar.

Symon Bacon

Since joining Argent in 2014, Symon has worked primarily on the King’s Cross development, where he has been responsible for coordinating and delivering commercial office space, retail and mixed use residential schemes. Prior to this, Symon worked for 8 across all aspects of development and construction process for a major contractor across residential, student accommodation and education sectors, as well as focusing on off-site manufacturing and assembly. Symon currently leads the Argent/Related Tottenham Hale development, in partnership with LB Haringey as part of the Tottenham Hale District Centre Framework, to deliver around 5000 homes. Symon hold a BSc Design Engineering, an MSc Commercial Project Management and is a member of the RICS.

I have more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry and a track record of delivering large-scale housing schemes. I joined Lovell in January 2016 as part of the London region senior management team with responsibility for the delivery of our flagship £320m Woolwich development in partnership with RB Greenwich and asra Housing Group. The regeneration of the three existing estates will create over 1,500 high quality, mixed tenure homes. Prior to joining Lovell I held senior management roles with national housebuilders including Berkeley, Kier and Wilson Connolly and have won a number of industry awards for quality.

David Eastwood

David has worked in housing for more than 5 years. He has worked at the GLA for just over a year, leading the Housing Mobility Team, and is also lead commissioner for Pan-London Rough Sleeping Services. Before this, he carried out a variety of commissioning roles in Westminster City Council, in rough sleeping, criminal justice and drug and alcohol. He is also one of the few non-police staff to have a received a MET police Borough commander commendation for his work on the Drug Intervention Programme.

I also work as a media trainer, mainly with charities and students’ unions to prepare their leaders to use media in their campaigns and preparing them for broadcast interviews.

With more than 10 years in the residential sector, I currently work as Project Architect on a variety of large-scale residential projects, competitions and regeneration projects. My experience includes public consultation, planning, detailed design and construction, as well as competition entries for large-scale regeneration and residential developments. Recently. I worked on the Alma Estate regeneration, comprising over 900 new homes in Enfield; the refurbishment of a Grade II listed building and 290 new homes within the Manor Place Depot development in Southwark; and the Lea Bridge Road scheme in Walthamstow which provides 300 homes, commercial units and a gym.

I joined Lambeth in 2014 to manage a team that coordinates the investment and growth of the Vauxhall Opportunity Area, and Stockwell and West Norwood town centres. The role is primarily focused on the delivery of new physical and social infrastructure to support growth, but also includes masterplanning to identify and unlock new opportunities. Prior to this, I managed a Development Management team in Camden Council and had spent nearly 10 years as a planner working on large scale major developments. This included the King's Cross regeneration programme, and two stints at the GLA where I led on the Southall Gasworks ‘call-in’ and helped produce the Mayor’s Olympic Legacy SPG.

Charlotte’s policy areas are housing and culture; two priority areas for the council. Her spatial policy area is the Lea Valley area (which includes Blackhorse, Leyton and Lea Bridge), the largest regeneration opportunity for the borough. Within the wider profession, Charlotte is National Co-Chair for Women in Planning and a Trustee for the Planning Officers Society.

David works at the GLA, developing and delivering a range of projects and services to support the Mayor’s ambition to ensure there is a sustainable route off the street for everyone sleeping rough in London. His experience in housing and homelessness began in the not-for-profit sector, working for charities in a number of different frontline services which supported homeless and vulnerable people. Following this, he worked in commissioning of health and social care services at a London borough. Alongside his role at the GLA, David is currently studying for a MSc in Public Policy and Management at Birkbeck.

Before working in housing, Alison volunteered for Citizens Advice Bureaux in Hillingdon and Harrow for 12 years and it was through this work that her passion for being part of the solution to the housing crisis began.

Richard started working in the Midlands (Leicester City Council) and joined LB Croydon’s strategic applications team approx. five years ago.
