London’s local authorities are working to deliver more homes. Peer groups help council-led housing teams share knowledge and expertise so they can tackle challenges together.

The Council-led Housing Network set up peer groups to connect professionals from London borough development teams in similar roles or facing similar challenges. Peer groups help council-led housing teams to work together better so they can deliver more and better housing.

Peer groups are self-directed, with each group appointing their own chair. Future of London establishes a protocol for how groups organise themselves, programmes events, structures agendas and finds members. Meetings are a mixture of online and in-person, with the latter offering opportunities to visit schemes or meet with experts.

Why join a peer group 

  • A safe, private space — operating under Chatham House rules — to thrash out tensions, share what’s working (and what isn’t), and have honest conversations you can’t always have elsewhere.
  • Regular, timely sessions that keep you up to date on the issues that matter most right now.
  • Access to the Council-led Housing Network’s expert panel for specialist advice when you need it.
  • Connect with people working in housing development across other London local authorities — exchange notes, share experiences, and build relationships with peers who get it.
  • Practical learning from real-life examples, so you leave with insights you can actually use.

Peer groups you can join

Currently running peer groups are PMO Leads and Heads of Development. We’re planning to set up peer groups this year on Finance, Procurement and Building Management.
