We run a unique knowledge-sharing network for executive directors responsible for inclusive growth and economic development across London.

As a leading world city, London is vital to the UK’s economic success. The capital’s economy is driven by a richly varied and integrated ecosystem of businesses. They range from SME, start-up and entrepreneur communities, and health, hospitality and culture sectors, to key innovation and tech clusters and major financial districts, among many others.

The future vitality of London’s economy has never been more pressing and executive directors in London boroughs are at the forefront of this challenge. That’s why the network was designed to provide peer support in this important role.

The pandemic and cost-of-living crisis have put unprecedented pressure on local authority economic development teams. They have continued to respond to both short-term shock and long-term goals of ensuring economic growth is distributed fairly and creates opportunities for all.

Unique member-led network for strategic directors

This member-led network is the only initiative of its kind. We bring together the most senior strategic directors responsible for London’s economic growth, recovery and regeneration across the GLA, boroughs and sub-regional partnerships.

The Executive Director Growth Network for London aims to build connections and encourage collaboration to address critical challenges and harness opportunities for London’s economy.

Through a regular programme of events, members can:

  • get the latest perspectives and fresh insights on the big topics related to London’s economic growth
  • build connections with peers, for sharing ideas and challenges, and seeking support
  • have dedicated time to think through key priorities, with like-minded colleagues from across London
  • identify opportunities for collaboration and collective influence in making the case for London as a whole.

“Our network is our superpower. The challenges boroughs are facing can only be tackled if we work across boundaries. The network is a great opportunity to collaborate and deliver good growth for Londoners.”

Nabeel Khan, Corporate Director – Climate & Inclusive Growth, LB Lambeth
