In a briefing led by Iceni Projects, our expert panel provided council housing development teams with valuable insights to support their understanding and response to the current consultation, Towards a new London Plan.
Key themes included the need for a more strategic and flexible approach to planning, with a strong focus on viability and the role of small and medium-sized developers.
The expert panel is part of our Council-Led Housing Network, which provides peer-to-peer support, good practice sharing and access to expert knowledge. The network is supported by the Mayor of London as part of his commitment to growing new council housebuilding.
The panel highlighted the potential for adjusting affordable housing thresholds, re-engaging SME builders and revisiting green belt policies to unlock development opportunities.
