Esther is a planner by background.  She worked in local authorities for 10 years before moving to the GLA to lead on design policies for the first London Plan and then CABE to lead on their planning work.  Since 2015 she has developed and managed Urban Design Learning which provides around 100 training and networking events a year from local authority built environment practitioners and councillors.  Esther has chaired and sat on numerous Design Review Panels and is currently a member of the Governments Local Authority Planning Capacity and Capability working group and the Office for Place Transition Board. She has been very involved with the development of design codes in England, working with many of the Pathfinder authorities who have been testing out coding methods and use, and running multiple training schools on the topic.
