On 14 September Future of London convened a roundtable of senior leaders from across London’s built environment sector to discuss what should London’s leaders should prioritise during this period of rolling and overlapping crises, and reflect on the leadership skills and approaches needed to create opportunities in times of crisis.
As part of our Building recovery programme, this roundtable aimed to highlight the key challenges facing the sector when it comes to prioritising fairness in recovery. Our multi-disciplinary panel gave their reflections on the sector’s urgent priorities with key themes around procurement, diversity and skills gaps.
The public sector is facing a huge a challenge to accelerate homebuilding under extraordinary circumstances. But there are financial mechanisms from government available, planning reform in consultation, an appetite for collaboration and widespread public support for more homes.
